NewsVolunteers Needed for the 2009 World Winter Games Send-Off Party2008-10-03The 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games will take place in Boise, Id February 617. Approximately 500 coaches & athletes from Team USA will gather in Salt Lake City for the last leg of their trip to Boise. On Feb. 5, we need volunteers to assist with sorting luggage/sports equipment, greet delegates, help with setup of banquet, serve as ushers and assist with the registration process. More specific details to follow. On Going Volunteer Opportunities2008-07-15Special Olympics Utah is always in need of people who are willing to volunteer their time, whether it's for an hour, a day or longer. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year. We have seven state events and a large number of area events that take place across the state. The following is a list of the state events and which sports coorispond with that event. SOUT Winter Games: Snowboarding, Alpine Ski, Cross Country Ski, Snowshoe; Spring Sports Classic: Bowling, Unified Sports Volleyball; SOUT Summer Games: Track & Field, Soccer, Cycling, Softball/Tball; State Golf Championship: Golf; Fall Sports Classic: Bocce, Basketball, Aquatics; Indoor Games: Unified Sports Basketball, Aquatics, Powerlifting. Volunteers are vital to our organization, over 5000 volunteers are trained throughout the year.
