2009 Special Olympics Utah Summer Games

The 2009 SOUT Summer Games is less than two months away and volunteer registration is now open.  This year's event will be held May 2830, 2009 at BYU in Provo, UT.  Special Olympics Utah athletes will be competing in track & field, cycling, soccer, softball & tball.  100's of volunteers will be needed to help with all aspects of competition as well as meals, Olympic Town, Opening Ceremonies, Victory Dance and clean up.  Some of the volunteer tasks involved with the competitions include timing, scorekeeping, course escorts, staging & escorting, starting line assistant, finish line assistant, lane judge, and awards.  Volunteers will be needed during the following days and times for this event:  Thursday, May 28  9am to 8:30pm; Friday, May 29 8:30am to 9pm; Saturday, May 30 8am to 4:30pm.  If you are interested in volunteering for this event please select the Summer Games volunteer form to the right.  When filling out the availability portion of the application please take the days and times listed into consideration.


On Going Volunteer Opportunities

Special Olympics Utah is always in need of people who are willing to volunteer their time, whether it's for an hour, a day or longer.  There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year.  We have seven state events and a large number of area events that take place across the state.  The following is a list of the state events and which sports coorispond with that event. SOUT Winter Games: Snowboarding, Alpine Ski, Cross Country Ski, Snowshoe; Spring Sports Classic: Bowling, Unified Sports Volleyball; SOUT Summer Games: Track & Field, Soccer, Cycling, Softball/Tball; State Golf Championship: Golf; Fall Sports Classic: Bocce, Basketball, Aquatics; Indoor Games: Unified Sports Basketball, Aquatics, Powerlifting.
